Pre-Primary School

Golden Grove Pre-Primary school opened in January 1992 and was originally known as The Willow Pre-Primary School. In January 2000 it was brought under the management of Golden Grove Primary School. The pre-primary school is registered as an independent pre-primary school with the Western Cape Education Department. The school was housed in one of the classrooms in Golden Grove Primary School until August 1994, when the development of the present premises was completed.

The school is administered by Golden Grove and provides a comprehensive pre-school education for children in the 6 year age group. The staff consists of three educators, one of whom is Head of Department.

Hours: School hours are from 08:00 - 12:30 Monday to Thursday and 08:00 - 12:15 on Friday. The School is open from 07:30 for early arrivals. School terms and holidays correspond to public schools. On the last day of each term the Pre-Primary School closes at 10:45.

Pre-Primary Programme: Parents play a vital role in the education of their children and the school welcomes parental involvement in a variety of ways. The daily programme is based on sound educational principles and provides a flexible balance between educator-directed and free play activities. All children are assessed according to their individual needs enabling them to reach their full potential in all areas of their development. This promotes an easy transition to formal schooling. Potential problems are evaluated and discussed with parents. Regular outings are arranged during each term.

Fees: Payment of fees is compulsory as the Pre-Primary School is not subsidised by the state. Annual school fees are determined by the Board of Governors and can be paid as a lump sum, per quarter or monthly over 10 months. An administration fee is payable on enrolment.
